Over the years, you may have tried many different eczema treatments and you may feel uncertain as to how effective they are. This section is designed to help you understand how treatment works, as this is an important part of coping with eczema.
There are many reasons why it's good to fully understand your treatment:
- Following a treatment plan as advised can really help to manage your eczema
- Your treatment plan may be complicated, with different treatments to use on different parts of the body, or to use at different times depending on how your eczema is
- Understanding why each treatment is being prescribed can help you to apply it correctly
- Feeling confident to recognise flare-ups and 'step up' treatment when your skin is bad is an effective way to self-manage your eczema
- Being able to 'step down' the treatment will prevent over use of unnecessary medication
